HELMET AND PIPE CONDENSER
The
CCyT is a closed helmet and pipes condenser. The regular models come in
22 sizes. The helmet and plate of tubes are built with quality steel for
under pressure recipients and the steel Schedule 40 pipes are welded to
the tube carrier plate. Tubes are equipped with steel lids that can be
taken apart, these lids are subdivided to provide the water passages with
the amount of liquid required. Both water connections are on the same
lid and can be located in either end if neces-sary.
The helmet of the condenser is equipped with connections to let gas in,
liquid out and pressure levelling.
The compressed gas goes into the shell through the upper part and is distributed
interiorly, condensing on the pipes. The liquid is collected on the bottom
and drained later.
The cooling water goes into it through the lower part in one of the ends
from where it is distributed along the pipes and the warmed up water comes
out the same end of the upper part. The cooling water is regularly pumped
by a centrifugal pump.
The required water flow is determined by the load, the temperature of
cooling water available and desired condensing temperature.
Changes in the capacity of the condenser can be carried out by alteration
of water flow or con-densing temperature. When more then one condenser
is installed, regulation of capacity is ob-teined through stopping the
right number of units if conexions of equipments parallel placed are correct.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
The capacity
of the condenser depends on the flow, temperature, load and conditions
of water.

The
fall of pressure only cobres the resístanse in the condenser fom
input to output, and when se-lecting a water pump it is necessary to consider
additional resístanse of pipes, valves, etc.
Under any conditions, the capacity of the condenser will remain invariable
when the temperature of water changes, as long as the water flow remains
constant as shown in the table. The difference between the condensing
temperature and the temperature of incoming water ( DTE ) and the dif-ference
between condensing temperature and the temperature of outgoing water (DTS
) will re-main invariable as long as the condensing temperature ( TC )
will follow the change in the tem-perature of the incoming water.
The capacity tables are based on a factor of dirtying ( R ) of 0,344 ºC
m2 / Kw, normally applied to water in cities. When existing other conditions
of water, the total load of condenser will be multi-plied by the correction
factors shown below:
