LIQUID RECEIVER AND EMPTYING TANK
The
liquid receiver stores the refrigerant fluid in a cooling plant.
In a cooling plant with several evaporators, the liquid receiver is also
a transition tank. When one or more evaporators are emptied and the refrigerant
is not sent to other evaporators; it will remain stored in the receiver.
When the evaporators start working again, the liquid level will decrease
in the receiver. In plants where evaporators suffer large variations of
charge, the liquid charge may vary considerably. Such variations require
certain volume of compensation in the liquid receiver. In large plants
with defreezing systems of hot gas an emptying tank is necessary, since
during the defreezing one or more evaporators are imptied of liquid and
the liquid is sent to an ordinary receiver tank placed in the upper part
of the general liquid receiver. Our receiver and emptying tanks have a
horizontal design, but they can be designed vertically if required.
The tanks have connections for liquid inlet/outlet, level display window,
oil vent, connection to level pressure, air vent, manometer and security
valve.
The tanks are statured under ASME code for recipients under pressure and
tested at 25 kg/cm3.
Approval certificates from authority can be provided with low extra cost.

Elements
not included in standard price are: closing valves, security valve, pressure
manometer, air vent, certificate of approval, clamps for connection to
pipes.
RULES FOR
SELECTION
The dimension
of receiver should be such so that 70% of its internal volume is available
to store all services that can be emptied in the plant simultaneously.
The remaining 30% will be a lung for normal working conditions of the
installation.
In small plants with a few evaporators, the receiver will have a dimension
so that its volume plus 50% of the internal volume of the condenser store
all the refrigerant of the plant.
In large plants with several evaporators, the receiver must contain the
regular storing load (1/3 of its internal volume) plus the liquid load
in the evaporator/s which can occassionally be emptied simultaneously
because of defreezing of repairing.
In plants of recirculating, the recirculating separator of low pressure
can be used as emptying tank. The emptying tank should be 1 ½ the
volume of the largest load of liquid to empty or defreeze.
